Apply for a Grant

We’re currently closed for applications

Thanks for your interest in applying for a Grand Plan grant. Applications are currently closed - we’re busy fundraising and aim to re-open in early 2025. We’ve collated a list of other funding opportunities here

If you applied in our July - August 2024 round, you’ll hear back from us by mid September.

To keep up to date on new funding rounds please sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Instagram

What does the application process look like?

We’ve got a no-fuss application process that’s been shaped and informed by artists:

  • We typically open a funding round for 5-6 weeks

  • We offer 20 grants per round

  • The three main questions on the application form are:

    • What is your Grand Plan and why do you want to do it? (300 words)

    • How will this grant support your work? (100 words)

    • How will you spend £1000?

  • A full copy of the full application form can be found here

  • You can answer the questions in written form or record an audio/video file

  • When applications are open - this form becomes an online webform; we suggest that you write your answers in a word document before submitting

What is the judging process?

  • All applications are reviewed by a small group of freelance artists or creative practitioners, who collectively create a longlist of up to 40 applications

  • A panel of four independent judges, all of whom are artists, review the long-listed applications to choose 20 grantees

What are our judging criteria?

Every application we receive is read and judged against four criteria:

  1. Why you? is there a clear idea of who you are and why you’re doing this?

  2. Why now? Tell us what you have done so far to bring this to life and how this money would give you a significant boost

  3. Is it realistic to make your project happen for for £1000?

  4. Could you get this money elsewhere?

You can find more detailed application guidance, including examples of previously successful applications, here

What happens if you’re successful?

  • We’ll share a simple (one page) contract with you to review and sign

  • The grant will be sent to your bank account within three weeks of signing the contract, usually sooner

  • You then have six months to bring your project to life! You can check in with us if needed, otherwise we leave you to it

  • After six months, we get in touch to see how it went!
